Int’l seminar on ethnic studies from March 26

GUWAHATI, March 14 - An international seminar on Tai and other ethnic communities of north-east India, organised by Eastern Tai Literary Association and Tai Literary and Cultural Council with the assistance of Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati, would be held at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Panjabari, from March 26 to March 28, a press release said. It is to be noted that the seminar was first slated to be held on in February. It was postponed due to the Asam Sahitya Sabha's 70th annual conference at Dhemaji. So far at least 50 research scholars have confirmed their participation in the seminar.

A 15-member team of Thai scholars from different universities of Thailand headed by Dr Chatthip Nortsupha, retired professor of Chulalungkoru University of Bangkok, has also confirmed participation in the seminar. The participants are required to register their names at the venue with a registration fee of Rs 1,000 on March 25 or March 26. The interested scholars can contribute their papers with CDs by March 15. The papers will be printed as proceedings and will be availabel at the time of seminar at the venue, the press release added.
